Veterinary dictation software
Vet records pile up between appointments. DictaFlow lets you hold a key and speak exam findings, SOAP notes and discharge instructions directly into the note field of your practice software, so you review and save instead of typing from scratch.
Windows, Mac, iPhone, iPad and Android. Free plan: 2,000 cloud words per 30-day cycle. Pro: $9/month or $84/year.
How to set it up
- Open the record in your practice software. Click into the exam, SOAP or discharge field in your browser-based or desktop practice management system.
- Hold the shortcut and dictate. Speak subjective, objective, assessment and plan in order, or dictate client instructions in plain language. Release when finished.
- Review drug names and doses. Check medications, doses, weights and dates before saving. You remain responsible for the record.
- Add your clinical vocabulary. Put drug names, breeds, procedures and your clinic's abbreviations in custom vocabulary so they come out spelled correctly.
Tips
- Dictate the SOAP note right after the exam while findings are fresh.
- Use Typing Mode if your practice software runs in a remote desktop or blocks paste.
- Dictate client emails and discharge instructions the same way, then edit for tone.
What DictaFlow does not do
DictaFlow is not an ambient scribe for veterinary visits and does not integrate with practice management software. It does not listen to appointments or write notes on its own; it types what you dictate while you hold the shortcut. Follow your practice's own data and record-keeping policies.
How DictaFlow works
DictaFlow is hold-to-talk dictation: hold a shortcut, speak, release, and the text is inserted into the active app at your cursor. It includes custom vocabulary, correction while speaking, and a Typing Mode that enters text as keystrokes for Citrix, RDP and fields where pasting is blocked. Standard dictation uses cloud processing; Pro adds Local Offline dictation on supported devices. See the full product facts and privacy policy.
Frequently asked questions
Does DictaFlow work with my veterinary practice software?
DictaFlow types into the active text field on Windows or Mac, so it works where you can click into a note field. It is not a direct integration. Test it once in your own system.
Can it handle drug names and breeds?
You can add drug names, breeds and procedures to custom vocabulary to improve spelling. Always review dictated doses and figures before saving.
Does it record the appointment?
No. DictaFlow only listens while you hold the shortcut. It is controlled dictation, not visit recording.
How much does it cost?
Free: 2,000 cloud words per 30-day cycle. Pro: $9/month or $84/year.
