Dictation for SOAP notes
SOAP notes are structured but repetitive. DictaFlow Medical lets clinicians dictate each section into the active note field, then review and sign using their normal EHR workflow.

How to set it up
- Open the note field. Click into the Subjective, Objective, Assessment or Plan field of your EHR or note template.
- Hold the shortcut and dictate one section. Speak the section, release, and the text is inserted at the cursor.
- Review in the field. Check medication names, doses, laterality and numbers before saving or signing.
- Use Typing Mode where paste is blocked. In Citrix, RDP or VMware Horizon, Typing Mode enters text as keystrokes. Test in your environment.
Tips
- Add specialty terms and drug names to custom medical vocabulary.
- Dictate section by section; it keeps the structure intact.
- Test with fictional text in a training environment first.
What DictaFlow does not do
DictaFlow Medical enters text. It does not choose orders, codes or diagnoses, and it is not native Epic command integration. Complete the security review and BAA before using patient information. Consumer DictaFlow is not the PHI product.
How DictaFlow works
DictaFlow is hold-to-talk dictation: hold a shortcut, speak, release, and the text is inserted into the active app at your cursor. It includes custom vocabulary, correction while speaking, and a Typing Mode that enters text as keystrokes for Citrix, RDP and fields where pasting is blocked. DictaFlow Medical, at $39/user/month, or $29/user/month for 5+ seats. Consumer Pro is not for PHI.
Does it work in Epic?
It types into active fields, including Epic Hyperspace in many Citrix and remote setups. Test in your managed environment. See the Epic page.
Does it create the SOAP note automatically?
DictaFlow Medical offers controlled dictation plus an optional Ambient Scribe with clinician review. For plain dictation, you speak each section.
