DictaFlow

Voice dictation for Excel

Dictation is best in Excel for text, not formulas: notes columns, comments, descriptions and labels. DictaFlow types into the selected cell or formula bar like any keyboard input.

Windows, Mac, iPhone, iPad and Android. Free plan: 2,000 cloud words per 30-day cycle. Pro: $9/month or $84/year.

How to set it up

  1. Select a cell. Click the cell, or press F2 to edit it, so the cursor is active.
  2. Hold the shortcut and speak. Dictate the text for that cell and release.
  3. Press Enter or Tab yourself. Move to the next cell with the keyboard, or use a foot pedal or mouse button mapped to your hotkey.
  4. Check numbers and units. Spreadsheets punish small errors. Re-read figures, dates and codes after dictating.

Tips

  • Use it for free-text columns such as notes, status updates and descriptions.
  • Add product codes, SKUs and abbreviations to custom vocabulary.
  • For numeric entry, the keyboard or number pad is usually faster and safer.

What DictaFlow does not do

DictaFlow does not write formulas by voice, navigate sheets, or understand spreadsheet commands. It enters the text you speak into the active cell.

How DictaFlow works

DictaFlow is hold-to-talk dictation: hold a shortcut, speak, release, and the text is inserted into the active app at your cursor. It includes custom vocabulary, correction while speaking, and a Typing Mode that enters text as keystrokes for Citrix, RDP and fields where pasting is blocked. Standard dictation uses cloud processing; Pro adds Local Offline dictation on supported devices. See the full product facts and privacy policy.

Frequently asked questions

Can I dictate formulas into Excel?

DictaFlow is a text dictation tool, so it is not designed for formulas. Type formulas; dictate notes.

Does it work in Excel for the web?

It types into the active field of the app or browser you are using.

Is it good for entering numbers?

Occasionally, but verify every figure. Keyboards remain more reliable for numeric data.

Is there a free tier?

Yes: 2,000 cloud words per 30-day cycle.
