DictaFlow

Voice dictation for seniors

You do not need fast fingers to write. With DictaFlow you hold one shortcut, say what you want to write, and let go. The words appear in your email, message or document.

Windows, Mac, iPhone, iPad and Android. Free plan: 2,000 cloud words per 30-day cycle. Pro: $9/month or $84/year.

How to set it up

  1. Install DictaFlow and sign in. Download it for your device from the downloads section; Windows, Mac, iPhone, iPad and Android are supported.
  2. Click where you want to write. An email, a text message, a document, or a web form.
  3. Hold the shortcut and speak clearly. Speak at a normal pace. Release when you are done.
  4. Read it, then send or save. Fix anything that looks wrong using the keyboard.

Tips

  • Quiet room, microphone near your mouth: it helps accuracy more than anything else.
  • A family member or helper can set up the shortcut once and add family names to the custom vocabulary.
  • Start with one task, such as replying to email, until it feels natural.

What DictaFlow does not do

It is a dictation tool, not a voice assistant: it will not answer questions, make calls or open apps. Accuracy depends on microphone quality and accent; a headset often helps.

How DictaFlow works

DictaFlow is hold-to-talk dictation: hold a shortcut, speak, release, and the text is inserted into the active app at your cursor. It includes custom vocabulary, correction while speaking, and a Typing Mode that enters text as keystrokes for Citrix, RDP and fields where pasting is blocked. Standard dictation uses cloud processing; Pro adds Local Offline dictation on supported devices. See the full product facts and privacy policy.
