How to set it up

  1. Click into the chat input. Works in the web apps and the desktop apps, because DictaFlow types into the active field.
  2. Hold, talk through the task. Describe context, constraints and the output you want, then release.
  3. Edit the text. The prompt is plain text in the box. Trim, reorder, or add bullet structure before sending.
  4. Add technical vocabulary. Put library names, product names and acronyms in custom vocabulary so prompts stay precise.

Tips

  • Speak the context first, then the ask. Rambling is fine; you can tidy it before sending.
  • Reuse the same hotkey in Cursor, VS Code, terminals and GitHub.
  • Review any dictated code identifiers; they are the most common mis-hears.

What DictaFlow does not do

DictaFlow is a text input layer, not an AI assistant or IDE command system. ChatGPT and Claude have their own voice modes, which are separate products with their own behaviour.

How DictaFlow works

DictaFlow is hold-to-talk dictation: hold a shortcut, speak, release, and the text is inserted into the active app at your cursor. It includes custom vocabulary, correction while speaking, and a Typing Mode that enters text as keystrokes for Citrix, RDP and fields where pasting is blocked.
